Department Overview

The AI Engineering team at Rohlik drives automation and smart decision-making across the company. We design and optimize AI-driven systems, from ETL pipelines to autonomous AI agents, and integrate them with public APIs, LLMs, and databases. Working closely with Product, Data, and Tech teams, we create scalable, data-powered solutions that improve both customer-facing products and internal operations.

Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to architect and develop both internal AI automation systems and customer-facing AI-powered systems (such as text and voice chatbots, recommendation systems, etc.) that shape the future of online retail.

The AI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and maintaining core AI services and components that enable efficient decision-making across the organization and enhance the customer experience. These systems operate at a large scale, handling hundreds of concurrent requests across our e-commerce and logistics platforms. You will also act as an advocate for AI-driven transformation, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and practical, user-centric product features.

You will join a dynamic AI Engineering team at the intersection of retail and technology. We embrace a "ship-fast" mentality, leveraging the latest advancements in LLMs and agentic workflows to solve real-world retail challenges at scale.

What we expect from you / the position to perform

• Owns:

  • Design, deploy, monitor, and evaluate customer-facing AI agents that improve the shopping experience and proactively assist users.

  • The design, maintenance, and deployment of autonomous AI agents that can reason, plan, and execute complex business processes. Experience with human-in-the-loop processes.

  • Special focus is on Voice technologies: We design AI systems capable of real-time interaction with spoken user input.

  • The full software development cycle — from building solutions to creating robust CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.

  • The implementation of comprehensive observability and monitoring for all AI systems.

  • Establishing rigorous evaluation frameworks to ensure systems meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and meaningful guardrails.

• Partners with:

  • Technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver practical solutions that drive business value.

• Supports:

  • The cost-efficiency of our AI systems by proactively implementing strategies like intelligent model routing, caching, prompt and context optimization.

What we look for / what we require

Required

• Foundational Experience: 3-5 years of experience in software engineering with proven proficiency in Python, experience building and deploying applications on a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure), and a solid understanding of AI, LLM and ML fundamentals.

• Generative AI Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade systems using Large Language Models (LLMs). This includes deep expertise in architecting modern AI-powered agentic systems, context, and prompt engineering.

• Strong experience using modern coding agents to produce production-ready code efficiently. We ship fast.

• Production & Ops Skills: Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining systems in a production environment. Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD principles. Knowledge of LLMOps principles and tools for versioning, observability, evaluation, and cost management.

• Strategic & Collaborative Skills: A pragmatic, product-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering practical solutions and excellent communication skills.

Preferred

• Bonus: Experience with frontend development or mobile applications development.
