About Outpost

Outpost is the infrastructure layer for cross-border commerce. We become the legally liable entity for tax, payments and customs wherever our merchants sell next. Series A, backed by Ribbit Capital and Better Tomorrow Ventures.

You will work alongside one of the strongest operating teams in fintech. Our founders and engineers built and scaled the products you already know: Revolut, Adyen, Airwallex. You will be in the room with people who have done this at scale, learning how a serious company is built from the inside.

We already have a point of view, a set of copy rules and a house style. What we do not have is one person who guards it. That is this role.

The role

You are the voice guardian. You own how Outpost sounds, everywhere it speaks: blog, social, launch copy, the website, customer comms, decks. Someone else decides what gets made and why. You make sure it reads right, and that it ships sounding unmistakably like us.

Part writer, part editor, part brand guardian. You set the editorial standard, then hold every surface to it.

You also care how the words live on the page. Copy is not a doc handed to design, it is part of the design. You work with design on how a line sits in the interface, how a landing page reads top to bottom, how a deck feels slide to slide. Craft is the job, on screen as much as in the sentence.

There is a house discipline already baked in - copy rules and a proofread standard the whole team writes against. You inherit it, sharpen it, and make it non-negotiable.

What you'll own, examples:

  1. The voice. Own the house style end to end. Keep the copy rules alive, extend them as we learn, and make sure every writer - founders included - lands inside them. You are the final read before anything public ships.

  2. Editorial standards. Set the bar for what "good" looks like across blog, social, web and customer comms. Edit hard. Turn a rough draft from anyone on the team into something that sounds like Outpost, without flattening the person behind it.

  3. Copy craft, hands on. Write and rewrite the surfaces that matter: launch copy, key landing pages, the sharpest posts, customer stories. You do not just review, you produce.

  4. Words in the UI. Work alongside design on how copy and interface come together - site pages, microcopy, product-adjacent copy, deck design consistency. Be comfortable in Figma. Care whether a headline sits right, not just whether it reads right.

  5. Voice for many pens. Protect the distinct voices we already ghostwrite (founder, tax, ops) while keeping the company voice coherent underneath. Make sure ten people writing sound like one company.

  6. The standard, systematised. Turn your instincts into something reusable: style guides, editorial checklists, examples of good and bad, so voice consistency survives without you personally touching every line.

What we test for

Nice to have: editorial or brand-voice experience at a B2B fintech, payments or infrastructure company; comfort in Figma and working with designers; experience running a house style across multiple writers; an interest in fintech.

What you'll get

How to apply

No cover letter.

Send us:

(1) something you wrote or edited that you are proud of, with a link, and one line on why it works; (2) take a paragraph of ours - blog, site, a post - and send us your edit, with what you changed and why;

(3) bonus - a piece of copy where the words and the layout clearly worked together, and your part in it. Whoever has the ear gets the call.

We work together in person in London. We believe the hardest problems are solved in the room.
